This is a draft, written ahead of Liner Notes’ beta. It will be finalized once the legal entity behind Liner Notes is registered (see the privacy statement) and a lawyer has reviewed it.
The service
Liner Notes (linernotes.me) is an album-first music discovery app. It recommends albums based on your own ratings and, where they exist, critic scores and taste-matched sources - it does not stream or host any music itself. It complements a streaming service you already use (Qobuz first).
Your account
You sign in with your email address via a one-time link - there’s no password to keep secure, but you’re responsible for keeping access to that email account. You must be at least 16 years old to use Liner Notes.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- scrape, systematically crawl, or bulk-extract data from Liner Notes;
- try to access another user’s account or data, or interfere with the service for other users;
- use the service for anything unlawful, or in a way that infringes someone else’s rights.
Recommendations and data
Every recommendation is computed from your own ratings and real, sourced data - never a fabricated score, review or reason. Where a number or claim comes from a critic or publication, we link back to that source. Predictions are estimates, not guarantees you will like an album.
Your content
Ratings, journal entries and anything else you add stay yours. We use them only to run the service for you (and, in aggregate and de-identified form, to improve the recommendation model). You can export or delete all of it at any time from your account settings.
No warranty
Liner Notes is provided “as is,” particularly during this beta. Streaming availability, critic-score coverage and recommendation quality will have gaps - we’ll try to make those honest and visible (e.g. “not enough data yet”) rather than hidden.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms as the product changes; meaningful changes will be announced by email. You can stop using Liner Notes and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that violates the acceptable-use section above.
